Michelle Ferguson
Please join the STEM CTL in welcoming Michelle Ferguson. Michelle joins the STEM CTL team as Manager, Instructional Technology. For the past fifteen years Michelle has worked as an Information Technology Teacher in the Career and Technical Education Program at George Washington High School. She’s taught Computer Software Applications, Fundamentals of Information Technology and Web Development & Design I & II. Her mission as a teacher is to provide a quality education that is meaningful and relative. To accomplish this goal, she plans and instructs each learning objective using a wide variety of teaching aids, learning standards, and motivational activities to engage students in active learning. Michelle exposes students to the latest instruction in technology, software applications and on-the-job training. Giving her students the edge over their peers is a top priority in her class. Over the past few years she’s been preparing students for Microsoft Office Specialist and Adobe Certified Associate Certifications. STEM Club Robotics Team Prepares for February 2014 Competition
The STEM Club's Robotics Team members are eagerly preparing to compete in the Vex U Robotics competition at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana on February 1, 2014.
Students will build two different sized innovative robots that work together to score the most points possible in qualification matches, elimination matches and Skills Challenges. In addition to having a great time and building amazing robots, through their participation in VEX U, students get to apply the theoretical STEM knowledge they learn in their college courses, while picking-up many of the academic and life skills necessary to excel in the workforce.
On November 9, 2013 the team attended the fall competition as spectators to gain insight into the upcoming winter competition. As a result, students reported that they learned some very useful strategies for competition. They also had an opportunity to meet with the competition judges and engage in a Q & A with them.
